Business process, otherwise known as business method, is a sequence of structured tasks or activities that produces specific services or products for particular set of customers. In easier terms, it is the breakdown of how work is to be done within a company with the emphasis on customer satisfaction. There are three known types of business processes. The first is management process. The management process overlooks the operations of a system. The second is type is the operational process. It is the process that establishes the core of the business and creates the primary system. Manufacturing, purchasing, marketing and sales are examples of typical operational processes. The last is the supporting process. As the names indicates, the supporting process supports the core process. Examples would be accounting, recruitment of staff and technical support. A business process starts with a customer's needs and it will only end when the customer's needs are fulfilled. Business processes are designed to increase company effectiveness and value for the customer and also to increase company efficiency, which will help the lessen costs company. There are many different business process methods and techniques. A company will have to determine which method works best for them. For any company, large or small, incorporating a business process can have a significant impact on the organization and span of control. |
